Who's mission is to inspire, educate, and uplift communities across Minnesota and beyond. Through her Community Service Initiative, Young, Sober, and Thriving, she raises awareness about addiction prevention while empowering young people with the tools to navigate their emotions and build resilience.
A community service initiative dedicated to raising awareness about substance misuse and addiction in young people, educating to reduce stigma, sharing substance misuse prevention and intervention strategies, and advocating for accessibility to treatment and recovery resources. Young, Sober, and Thriving works to equip youth with the knowledge and tools they need to make healthy choices. Through school presentations, community outreach, and media engagement, May Diddy shares her personal journey and provides resources to help youth build resilience and strong coping skills. She partners with The Lion House, a sober living home, to further extend support to individuals in recovery and connect them with valuable resources. By fostering open conversations and offering support, she empowers young people to make informed decisions and create a future free from addiction.

May Diddy brings her puppet friend, Sunny, to elementary schools and preschools to teach children about emotional regulation and healthy coping skills. Through interactive skits, songs, and a reading of Brighter Days with Sunny: A Feelings Book—which she wrote—May helps kids learn to identify and express their emotions in a fun and engaging way. Her presentations are designed to foster self-efficacy, an essential factor in preventing future substance misuse. She plans to expand this initiative into a YouTube Kids channel, bringing Sunny’s lessons to an even wider audience.
The Miss America Opportunity is more than a competition—it’s a chance to earn scholarships, develop leadership skills, and amplify your impact. Whether you're passionate about service, talent, or personal growth, this program empowers young women to achieve their goals. "I chose to compete to expand the reach of my community service initiative, launch my career, and pay for higher education—Miss America provides the platform to do it all," says May Diddy, Miss Midwest.
Take the leap, share your story, and become part of a sisterhood that changes lives.
